About Los Astrales "Astrales"
Astrales is a single-variety Tinto Fino red wine made by Bodegas Astrales in the D.O. Ribera del Duero, Spain.
The winery is owned by the Romera de la Cruz family, the third generation of a family of winegrowers, with advice from Eduardo García, son of the renowned oenologist Mariano García, creator of great wines like Aalto, San Román and Mauro.
Currently Bodegas Los Astrales is led by prestigious winemakers José Hidalgo Togores and Ana Martín Onzain, both with a strong track record and extensive experience of making great wines in Spain.
Astrales is made with Tinto Fino, the classic Ribera del Duero variety. The clusters come from old vines with an average age of 45 years and spread across several small plots with clay-calcareous soils and boulders. The harvest is carried out manually, and the grapes are transferred by gravity to a 50-hl tank where they macerate for 15 days and undergo alcoholic fermentation with their native yeasts. The resulting wine ages for 18 months in French oak barrels.
Astrales is a Ribera del Duero red wine that breaks all the area’s stereotypes and offers a great balance of fruit and wood.
