About Ànima Negra 'AN/2'

The callet, mantonegro, and fogoneu are indigenous grape varieties from the Balearic Islands. And with them, Ànima Negra 'AN/2' is crafted. 
 
There is nothing purer. Nothing more authentic. Nothing that better embodies the character and authenticity of this island terroir. Founded relatively recently, since 1994, the winery Ànima Negra has focused on producing quality wines that remain true to the island's character. The climate in this region is distinctly Mediterranean, with significant temperature fluctuations between the hot summers, where highs easily exceed 30°C, and the cold winters. Rainfall is concentrated during the autumn.
 
The harvest of Ànima Negra 'AN/2' is conducted manually, using small 10 kg boxes. The grapes are swiftly transported to the winery, located in Felanitx (in the northeastern part of the Migjorn district), just 10 km away. The estate comprises a total of 150 micro-plots, along with five additional plots situated in the western part of the island. Here, the vineyards are interspersed with other plantations and fruit trees, such as apricots, pear trees, peaches, plums, cherry trees… 
 
Once at the winery, the Ànima Negra 'AN/2' clusters undergo a double selection before being placed in stainless steel and cement tanks where Ànima Negra 'AN/2' will ferment. All movements and transfers are carried out by gravity. After fermentation, Ànima Negra 'AN/2' will macerate for 15 to 20 days until undergoing malolactic fermentation in cement tanks. Finally, Ànima Negra 'AN/2' is transferred to French and American oak barrels where it will rest for over a year.

2021

Ànima Negra ÀN/2 2021 is a red wine that on the nose offers aromas of ripe red and black fruits accompanied by spicy, balsamic, mineral and oak notes. Flavorsome and fresh in the mouth, full of nuances that are representative of the typical Mediterranean character of Mallorca. A round, velvety and very fruity red wine.
2020

AN/2 2020 is a red wine that on the nose, in addition to fruity notes and Mediterranean herbs, exudes aromas with a pronounced woodiness and smoky nuances. On the palate, it courses with a refreshing crispness, tempered by a gentle acidity, and culminates in a subtly spiced and smoky finish. A complex red wine with a distinctive and delectable Mediterranean character.
2019

AN/2 Magnum 2019 is a sophisticated red wine. Olfactorily, it exudes a robust intensity, replete with scents of wildflowers, an array of spices, and a hint of toasty aromas. The palate mirrors this intensity, exhibiting a robust and meaty character. Exceptionally flavorsome. Harmoniously balanced with smooth tannins. The finish is refreshingly cool and balsamic.
2018

AN/2 2018 is a richly concentrated red wine exuding scents of both red and black fruits, complemented by herbaceous nuances and hints of minerality. On the palate, it is robust, fleshy, and immensely flavorful, presenting a harmonious fusion of fruity essence with a spicy finish.

2016 AN/2 2016 is a red wine with concentrated aromas and a medium to full body. The black fruit aromas from the Syrah and the Manto Negro combine with the fennel aromas of the Callet and the roasted notes of the barrel. A complete and complex wine.
2015

AN/2 2015 is a mature red wine boasting a robust aromatic intensity of ripe black fruits, hints of Mediterranean woodland, and nuances of dairy and toasted elements. On the palate, it is flavorful, succulent, and well-balanced. A wine characterized by fine, polished tannins, a lively mouthfeel, and a balsamic finish. 

 

 
2013 The palate is silky, fresh, tasty, and full-bodied. A good acidity and fruit flavours. Soft tannins.

Cherry colour with violet edges. Dense tear.

Good intensity on the nose. Aromas of red fruit, eucalyptus, spices like pepper or nutmeg, leather, thyme, rosemary and some toasted notes.
2012 On the palate, the wine is balances, flavoursome, silky and fresh. Balsamic notes with a mineral base. Fresh vegetable finish.

Ruby garnet colour.

On the nose, presence of eucalyptus, pepper, leather, ripe fruit and cacao.

2009 A round wine with character. It shows an intense and wide attack that gives way to a bulky, full-bodied wine, with notes of fruit and well integrated notes of wood. It has a silky, friendly and tasty mid palate and a good acidity, which along with the balsamic notes, more intense than in the nose, provide the wine with a great freshness. Its light tannins are well assembled. It has a long  finish with a great persistence.

Very bright and intense cherry red colour with violet reflections.

Intense and complex aromas with expressive notes of red and black ripe fruit, which are initially released along with creamy and milky aromas. When it opens up, a burst of toasted notes, spices, leather, tobacco and cocoas emerges along with a light hint of leather and flowers. In the background, intense and pleasant mineral notes are noticed.
2008 Wine with great personality and a strong attack. Sweet and silky mid palate, with well assembled notes of licorice, fruit and oak and a balsamic touch that provides it with freshness. Intense, rich, ripe and pleasant tannins. Long and very persistent finish with a spicy aftertaste. Round and well-bodied wine.

Intense cherry red with garnet trims. Clean and bright. Abundant tears.

Intense and very expressive aromas with some red fruit and a touch of liquor and creamy spicy background. As the wine opens up, powerful mineral sensations appear together with hints of milk, cocoa, snuff, coffee and spices, specially vanilla.
2007 Greedy and full bodied. Balanced wine, round and with a lingering finish that gives a feeling fresh vegetable.
