About Fabien Jouves La Roque Rouge

Fabien Jouves La Roque Rouge is a natural monovarietal Malbec red wine from the AOC Cahors produced by Mas del Périé - Fabien Jouves.

Mas del Périé - Fabien Jouves is the winery founded by Fabien Jouves in 2006. It is located on the slopes of Trespoux, Cahors, and cultivates its plots biodynamically to fully respect nature, the vine and its surroundings. It vinifies naturally, without oenological additives, and accompanying the wine until its maturity, fermenting it and ageing it in concrete tanks, foudres and barrels, seeking to produce wines that are the pure reflection of the terroir.

The vineyard for Fabien Jouves La Roque Rouge consists of strains that are around 35 years old. They are cultivated biodynamically and certified by Demeter. The soil is made up of brown Miocene marls and is about 350 metres above sea level. The grapes are harvested manually to be able to select the bunches in the field and ensure they arrive intact in the cellar.

In the cellar, the Fabien Jouves La Roque Rouge harvest is destemmed and vatted in concrete and wooden tanks. It macerates with the skins for about 30 days and lastly undergoes ageing in barrels and cement tanks for about 6 months.

Fabien Jouves La Roque Rouge is a wine that reveals a well-balanced maturity and a complete, rounded and accessible body.
2017 Fabien Jouves La Roque Rouge 2017 is an elegant wine. A Malbec with very fine tannins and fine fruit, black fruit and cloves. It is a complex wine that benefits from being bottle-aged. It should spend a minimum of 2 years in the bottle before being opened.
