Domaine de Villaine Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise La Digoine is a monovarietal organic Pinot Noir red wine from the AOC Domaine Côte Chalonnaise produced by Domaine de Villaine.

Domaine de Villaine is a winery in Bouzeron, in Burgundy. Their vineyards are found mostly on slopes located at an altitude of between 270 and 350 meters above sea level, in poor soils with a high limestone content. It has cultivated its vineyards certified organically since 1997, and in order to make great wines it seeks to ensure that the grapes ripen optimally and are in perfect conditions of health.

The vineyard for Domaine de Villaine Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise The Digoine is a small plot of 1.8 hectares of vines that are 35 to 45 years old. It is planted in the typical soils found in Burgundy - clay and limestone. The harvest is carried out manually so that the grapes arrive in the cellar at their best.

After a thorough selection of the best bunches, to produce Domaine de Villaine Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise La Digoine about 2/3 of these are vatted whole in wooden tanks. They ferment with native yeasts, and the must-wine remains in contact with the skins for about 10-12 days. It is then de-vatted and pressed, and lastly the wine is aged for 10 to 12 months in wooden tanks, depending on the potential of the vintage.

2017 Domaine de Villaine Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise La Digoine 2017 was vinified with more whole grapes than usual because the harvest was of a very high quality. It has a powerful and dense nose, and on the palate reveals ripe and silky tannins that give the wine thickness and depth. They make it velvety and it is predicted to have a good ageing potential.
