The Jackson 5, initially known as The Jackson Brothers and subsequently as The Jacksons, burst onto the music scene as the quintessential R&B boyband in the late 1960s. Their invigorating blend of funk, soul, and pop propelled them to fame. However, it was the vocal prowess and youthful exuberance of the family's youngest member, Michael Jackson, that truly revolutionized the music market. A child prodigy who managed to resonate with both the white and African American communities for the first time, he ascended to become an iconic figure in music history. In the wine world, a similar phenomenon can be observed with Claus Preisinger, the youngest member of the Pannobile group in Burgenland, Austria. This collective of wine producers is dedicated to preserving the distinctive character of their terroir and indigenous grape varieties, with Preisinger emerging as one of the foremost advocates for natural viticulture.
Now at the forefront of Austrian winemakers, the youngest of the group is neither dogmatic nor didactic... He follows his instincts and is constantly experimenting. It is because of this nonconformist spirit that his wines are praised by staunch proponents of minimal intervention. This is evident in Claus Preisinger Kalkstein Zweigelt, a red wine made from the native zweigelt grape, sourced from vines planted in limestone soils and cultivated according to biodynamic principles. In the winery, no additives are introduced, and whole clusters spontaneously ferment in stainless steel vats. Subsequently, the wine matures for 8 months in previously used barrels before bottling.
Young, yet exceedingly skilled, Claus Preisinger is a paragon of innovation. Much like Michael Jackson, whose vocal talent and youthful energy made him a music legend, the youngest member of the Pannobile group has not only highlighted the Austrian region of Burgenland with a bold and groundbreaking vision but has also challenged longstanding conventional frameworks in the wine world. Claus Preisinger Kalkstein Zweigelt is a testament to this.
2022 | Claus Preisinger Kalkstein Zweigelt 2022 captivates us with its vibrant freshness and youthful exuberance. On the nose, this red wine unfurls a kaleidoscope of aromas featuring ripe cherries, wild blackberries, succulent plums, and blueberries, complemented by a subtle hint of spices that enhance its distinctiveness. On the palate, it is equally fruity, and its succulent texture beckons one to indulge in sip after sip. The fruit expression is clear and forthright, presenting a delightfully accessible profile that is ready for immediate enjoyment. |
